We wear our emblem the platypus emblem with pride and through our sustainability program, we learn all about the platypus and how to care for these cute furry creatures and their habitat.

For the past 20 Years, all year 3 and 4 students have worked alongside Healesville Environment Watch ( the local community conservation group) and take part in an ongoing revegetation program for the Watts River. Year Four students also regularly conduct research into the water quality of our local waterways by exploring the invertebrate life living in the water.

At school, we are continuing to develop our Veggie garden with 5 new garden beds established in 2019.

As part of the grant from the Shire of Yarra Ranges, we worked alongside Healesville High, to plan and develop a three-bay composting system, 4 new wicking garden beds and a long-awaited chook pen, complete with 5 chooks.

We have a weekly roster of students who collect eggs and look after chooks and attend veggie gardens.

We have some wonderful volunteers who have been working with students to plant and harvest veggies and use these to cook delicious healthy food in our school kitchen.

We are part of the resource smart schools program students will learn to live more lightly on the earth by reducing our use of water, wastes, energy, and fuel.
