About HPS

Our School
Healesville Primary School (pop. 220) is located on a sloping, treed, 2-hectare site nestled at the base of the Eastern Ranges, in close proximity to the main business centre of Healesville.
Our school (established in 1866) is very proud of its history and contribution towards education and the community of Healesville. We celebrated our 150th birthday in October 2016. The Healesville area has strong historical links with its Koorie population. As a school, we celebrate the diversity of our heritage.
Healesville Primary School continually aims to provide a friendly, safe and purposeful environment in which students value respect and enjoy learning together as part of a community of learners. The ever-present helpers and open and friendly communication between teachers, children and parents is a strength. We endeavour to provide an atmosphere that is stimulating, meaningful and in which all students can experience success. This is achieved by catering for the individual learning needs of students, where students, parents and teachers work together as partners in education.
Our school offers a challenging and comprehensive curriculum based on the Victorian Curriculum. We use the Victorian Teaching and Learning Model 2.0. Our teaching practices are evidence based, founded on the Science of Learning. We engage students and explicitly teach knowledge and skills. We provide daily reviews and opportunities for retrieval practice to ensure students are able to learn to mastery. Teachers frequently check for understanding throughout lessons and units and respond appropriately. The school community has established a culture where students feel safe and supported and are able to focus on learning.
Specialist Programs
Grounds and Facilities
Attractive gardens have been planted to complement the uniquely tiered playground, which provides quiet areas, creative play space and separate junior, middle and senior school play equipment, interspersed with football, basketball and cricket facilities. We have a school garden where students plant and grow vegetables and chicken coop. Students take care of the chickens and collect their eggs daily.
Before and After School Care

We are proud to partner with Camp Australia to provide our Outside School Hours Care (OSHC) program.
Camp Australia programs are centred on child enrichment, while ensuring a reliable, engaging and hassle-free OSHC service at our school. Their engaged educators foster a safe, inclusive environment where children can relax, have fun and grow.

Your OSHC is Camp Australia’s before school, after school and pupil free day program, tailored to the likes and interests of each child in service. Camp Australia’s educators design enriching experiences to inspire your children’s confidence, independence and imagination. In any one week, they could be participating in science experiments, active play, creative expression and more – they believe in learning through experience so that each child can grow.
